Established in 1980 and serving a population of nearly 300,000 over an area of 400 sq. miles of West Kent and East Sussex.
Services: A specialist 17 bed in-patient unit (only 14 beds open due to low statutory funding). A Day Therapy Centre providing a range of clinics, therapies and treatments to over 500 people each year. A community team of clinical nurse specialists and doctors providing 24-hour telephone support, counselling, bereavement support, spiritual care, patient advocacy, education and health information. 1,800 people have benefited from all services in the past year.
Funding: Annual running costs are £3.5m (£9,589 per day), with only 10% funding from government.
